    Abstract
    Con Internet de las Cosas (IoT) y redes de sensores inalámbricas (WSN), han surgido nuevas posibilidades de solución para diferentes problemas de las personas; por ejemplo para el cuidado de personas mayores, principalmente para quienes padecen demencia, donde un sistema de posicionamiento en interiores (IPS), permite identificar en tiempo real la localización de una persona, alertar sobre riesgos y ayudar en el cuidado de la misma. Por lo anterior se describe el funcionamiento de un IPS, los conceptos básicos para implementarlos, algunas plataformas de hardware y las pruebas de concepto realizadas, con el fin de determinar la precisión de los IPS y su posible aplicación en la población seleccionada. Es importante mencionar, que si bien existen muchos IPS en desarrollo, la novedad de la propuesta presentada radica en que es para personas a mayores, define un protocolo de cuidado y propone la adecuación de un dispositivo IoT con el software de control necesario para cuidar y monitorear a estas personas.
