| dc.description.abstract | La obesidad es considerada un problema emergente de salud pública que afecta a amplios sectores de la población, tanto a niños como a adultos, y presenta un gran desafío para los gobiernos ya que requiere la tarea de modificar la forma en que las personas se alimentan, se mueven y viven. Según la OMS, la obesidad es un problema tanto biológico como social y debe considerarse como una función de estos contextos más amplios. Además, ha sido considerada una de las epidemias del siglo XXI, por el aumento creciente que ha tenido en los últimos años. Aunado a lo anterior, la obesidad es un factor de riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares y es considerada una enfermedad en sí. En su origen intervienen factores genéticos, ambientales, sociales y culturales. Este proyecto analiza perfiles epidemiológicos, boletines e informes sobre la obesidad en el departamento del Cesar en aras de establecer su historia natural, su comportamiento, y las actividades y programas de promoción y prevención que se implementan con el fin de disminuir los índices de obesidad en la población. | spa |

| dc.description.abstractenglish | Obesity is considered an emerging public health problem that affects large sectors of the population, both children and adults, and presents a great challenge for governments as it requires the task of changing the way people eat, they move and live. According to the WHO, obesity is a biological as well as a social problem and should be considered as a function of these broader contexts. In addition, it has been considered one of the epidemics of the 21st century, due to the growing increase it has had in recent years. In addition to the above, obesity is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and is considered a disease in itself. In its origin, genetic, environmental, social and cultural factors intervene. This project analyzes epidemiological profiles, bulletins and reports on obesity in the department of Cesar in order to establish its natural history, its behavior, and the activities and programs of promotion and prevention that are implemented in order to reduce obesity rates in the population. | spa |
