| dc.description | This study aimed to assess the iron functional state in a population of 43 high performance Colombian athletes belonging to Cali skating League (41.9%) and water polo (58.1%, aged 17 - 43, determining serum ferritin, soluble transferrin receptor and soluble transferrin receptor index, demonstrating the presence of subclinical iron deficiencies that lead to risks in the performance of the athlete. 55.8% of the athletes showed normal results, 41.9% had serum ferritin values below the biological reference interval and 2.3% subclinical iron deficiency grade II. The results does not show significant difference between these disciplines. | en-US |
| dc.description | El objetivo de este estudio fué valorar el estado funcional del hierro en una población de 43 deportistas colombianos de alto rendimiento pertenecientes a la Liga de Patinaje (41,9%) y Waterpolo (58,1%) de Cali, con edades entre 17-43 años, determinando Ferritina sérica, Receptor Soluble de Transferrina e índice Receptor Soluble de Transferrina, demostrando la presencia de deficiencias subclínica de hierro que llevan a situaciones de riesgo en el rendimiento del atleta. Los resultados mostraron normalidad en el 55.8% de los deportistas, el 41.9% presentaron valores de ferritina séricas por debajo del intervalo biológico de referencia y el 2.3% deficiencia subclínica de hierro en grado II. Se concluye que los resultados obtenidos no muestran diferencias significativas entre estas disciplinas. | es-ES |
