dc.description.abstract | En Colombia, el área establecida en cacao es de 110.795 ha., que producen 71.173 ton con un rendimiento promedio de 642 kilos/ha; en el departamento del Tolima se cultivan 13.010 ha, en los 22 municipios cacaoteros, que producen 6.060 ton con rendimientos promedio menores a 500 kilos por ha. en grano seco, los cuales son considerados muy bajos, índice de un bajo nivel competitivo. Las principales causas a nivel nacional como regional se sustentan en la deficiente aplicación de tecnología en el manejo del cultivo, que generalmente está conformado por árboles híbridos poco productivos con edades por encima de los 30 años y la resistencia al cambio de los productores. | spa |
