dc.description.abstractColombia ha venido creciendo en la implementación de técnicas reproductivas por medio de biotecnologías lo cual ha sido un trabajo en conjunto con las entidades del Estado como el Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural, Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario - ICA, La Federación Colombiana de ganaderos - FEDEGAN de la mano con el Fondo Ganadero y por supuesto de los ganaderos colombianos. Esto ha conllevado a que muchas empresas busquen la certificación en buenas prácticas ganaderas, teniendo en cuenta la importancia de contar con procesos certificados que garanticen no solo la obtención de un producto final inocuo y con altos estándares de calidad sino que además sus animales y trabajadores también cuenten con garantías de bienestar y de paso la protección al medio ambiente. Es así como al finalizar el año 2020,, según estadísticas del ICA se certificaron en BPG 1.624 predios de producción pecuaria, de las cuales el 71% corresponde al sector bovino, distribuidas en el 63% al subsector de leche y el 37% al subsector de carne. El día 27 de octubre 2023 se visitó la Empresa Biotecnología Reproductiva S.A.S - CGR, con el fin de conocer sus procesos. Esta empresa fue fundada en 1998, año en el cual ha venido trabajando para incursionar en el mercado de transferencia, congelación y colecta de embriones, semen congelado, preñez confirmada con receptora, inseminación artificial a tiempo fijo, su mercado ha sido tanto a nivel nacional como internacional, manejando diferentes razas bovinas como la Gyr, Nelore, Angus, Wagyu, Brasford, Gerford, Simental, entre otras.
