dc.description	Accessible communication is essential for the inclusion of deaf people in scientific and cultural society. The language barrier that deaf people face when trying to access written Spanish can limit their self-efficacy and their ability to participate fully in society. However, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology and Artificial Intelligence offer an innovative solution: the application of a Spanish signifier translator to Colombian Sign Language (CSL). This tool allows deaf people to understand their environment in Spanish in an autonomous way, which promotes inclusion and active participation in the scientific and cultural society. The application of OCR technology in the detection, reading, and conversion of Colombian Sign Language is essential to provide better living conditions for people with hearing disabilities and to bring together two cultures that have traditionally been distanced by the language barrier. This article describes the stages of development of the mobile application, the technology used, and the role of the sign language translator in promoting accessible communication and the participation of deaf people in a scientific and cultural society.	en
dc.description	La comunicación accesible es esencial para la inclusión de personas sordas en la sociedad científica y cultural. La barrera lingüística que enfrentan las personas sordas al tratar de acceder al español escrito puede limitar su autoeficacia y su capacidad para participar plenamente en la sociedad. Sin embargo, la tecnología de reconocimiento óptico de caracteres (OCR) y la Inteligencia Artificial ofrecen una solución innovadora: la aplicación de un traductor de significantes en español a la Lengua de Señas Colombiana (LSC). Esta herramienta permite a las personas sordas comprender su entorno en español de manera autónoma, lo que fomenta la inclusión y la participación activa en la sociedad científica y cultural. La aplicación de la tecnología OCR en la detección, lectura y conversión de la lengua de señas colombiana es fundamental con el propósito de brindar mejores condiciones de vida a las personas que enfrentan discapacidad auditiva y para acercar dos culturas que tradicionalmente han estado alejadas por la barrera lingüística. En este artículo se describen las etapas de desarrollo del aplicativo móvil, la tecnología que se utiliza y el papel del traductor de significantes en la promoción de la comunicación accesible y que las personas sordas sean partícipes en una sociedad científica y cultural.	es
