Description:	La organización interna de una empresa constructora desempeña un papel esencial en su funcionamiento, eficacia y su capacidad de ajustarse a un entorno empresarial que cambia constantemente. A nivel mundial los avances reportados en productividad laboral del sector corresponden a un promedio anual del 1% y menores de 2,8%. Sin embargo, existe una falta de comprensión profunda en cuanto a las estructuras organizacionales específicas que estas compañías emplean y cómo estas estructuras afectan su rendimiento de manera positiva o negativa. Por lo que la selección de un modelo de estructura organizacional acorde a las necesidades de la empresa y sus clientes es vital para el desarrollo y crecimiento de esta. En este estudio se realizó el análisis funcional de los tipos de estructuras organizacional aplicados en 6 empresas constructoras de Cartagena de Indias. Se identificaron los lineamientos para la selección de la estructura organizacional en cuanto a eficiencia y rentabilidad empresarial y el tipo de estructura empleada. Además, se realizó un análisis comparativo sobre la eficiencia de las empresas constructoras con estructura organizacional y sin estructura organizacional. Finalmente, se realizaron recomendaciones en la selección y aplicación de la estructura organizacional y del mismo modo en la identificación de oportunidades de mejora en las practicas organizacionales para un mejor desempeño en la gestión de proyectos en el desarrollo de proyectos de construcción. The internal organization of a construction company plays an essential role in its operation, effectiveness and its ability to adjust to a constantly changing business environment. At a global level, the reported advances in labor productivity in the sector correspond to an annual average of 1% and less than 2.8%. However, there is a lack of in-depth understanding regarding the specific organizational structures these companies employ and how these structures affecttheir performance positively or negatively. Therefore, the selection of an organizational structure model that is in accordance with the needs of the company and its clients is vital for its development and growth. In this study, the functional analysis of the types of organizational structures applied in 6 construction companies in Cartagena-Bolívar was carried out. The guidelines for the selection of the organizational structure in terms of business efficiency and profitability and the type of structure used were identified. In addition, a comparative analysis was carried out on the efficiency of construction companies with an organizational structure and without an organizational structure. Finally, recommendations were made in the selection and application of the organizational structure and likewise in the identification of opportunities for improvement in organizational practices for better performance in project management in the development of construction projects.
