Description:	This article presents the results of a research process aiming to show, from a contextual reference, the meaning and scope of civic education for the exercise of democracy and social responsibility, based on university students’ understanding on the practice of democracy, social responsibility and human rights, considered as categories of analysis, and what the individual formation for civic practice by exercising political, critical and participatory. En el presente artículo se recogen los resultados de un proceso deinvestigación que pretende evidenciar, desde un referente contextual, el sentido y alcance de la formación ciudadana para el ejercicio de la democracia y la responsabilidad social, a partir de la comprensión que tienen los estudiantes universitarios respecto de la praxis de la democracia, la responsabilidad social y los derechos humanos, tomadas como categorías de análisis, y lo que representa para ellos la formación de la persona para la praxis cívica, mediante el ejercicio político, crítico y participativo.
