Description:	The objective of this initiative is a theoretical dissertation based on the analysis of environmental risks in the El Quimbo Hydroelectric project within the framework of the PMBOK guide (PMI, 2017). The problem is focused on elucidating how the PMBOK proposal allows structuring the events that positively and negatively affected the performance of the project where social resistance activities caused, among others, by environmental problems, which have generated delays, construction suspensions, are reported. and operation, complaints, constant litigation, sanctions, over costs and that affect the normal development of the project causing economic losses of millions of dollars. Through a rigorous bibliographic review, an analysis of the project structure and information on similar cases, it is intended to propose an environmental risk management scheme applying the PMBOK guide on project management experiences and practices at the Hydroelectric “El Quimbo ”. This project is developed as a work option monograph in the Project Management Master of the Open and Distance National University (UNAD).This project is developed as a monograph for the option of degree work in the Master of Project Management of the Open and Distance National University (UNAD). Esta iniciativa tiene como objetivo disertación teórica basada en el análisis de riesgos ambientales en el proyecto de la Hidroeléctrica El Quimbo en el marco de la guía de PMBOK (PMI, 2017). La problemática se enfoca dilucidar cómo la propuesta de PMBOK permite estructurar los eventos que afectaron en forma positiva y negativa el desempeño del proyecto donde se reportan actividades de resistencia social causada, entre otras, por problemas ambientales, lo cual ha generado retrasos, suspensiones de construcción y operación, denuncias, constantes litigios, sanciones, sobre costos y que afectan el normal desarrollo del proyecto causando pérdidas económicas de millones de dólares. A través de una revisión bibliográfica rigurosa, un análisis de la estructura del proyecto e información de casos análogos, se pretende plantear un esquema de gestión de riesgos ambientales aplicando la guía de PMBOK de las experiencias y prácticas de gerencia de proyectos en la Hidroeléctrica “El Quimbo”. Este proyecto se desarrolla como una monografía de opción de trabajo en la Maestría de gerencia de proyectos de la Universidad Nacional abierta y a Distancia (UNAD).
