dc.description.abstract	El presente estudio tiene como objetivo determinar la viabilidad de la implementación de un hospital de primer nivel en Pitalito. Para ello se hace la contextualización del estudio dentro del marco de referencia, teniendo en cuenta los aspectos: teórico, contextual, socio-cultural, económico, tecnológico, político-legal, ecológico y finalmente el marco conceptual. Seguidamente se desarrolla la metodología analizando el tipo de estudio que se realiza, aclarando que el método de investigación es el descriptivo; ya que se entra a detallar el objeto del estudio sin que haya una intervención directa sobre el mismo; de igual manera se aclara que el método de investigación utilizado fue la observación y la técnica fue cualitativa y de campo. Posteriormente se entra a realizar el estudio de mercado que tiene como finalidad la caracterización de los servicios de salud de primer nivel que se pudieran prestar en una nueva IPS en el municipio de Pitalito y su área de influencia, teniendo en cuenta la oferta y la demanda de los mismos. Luego se determina la viabilidad de la implementación de un hospital de primer nivel en Pitalito, considerando que la necesidad ya está creada. De este modo se evitaría que a medida que avanza el tiempo y crece la población se congestionen los servicios que se prestan actualmente en el Hospital Departamental San Antonio de Pitalito, teniendo en cuenta que cada entidad de acuerdo a su nivel debe dedicarse a cumplir las actividades correspondientes. Finalmente la investigación permite determinar que es necesaria la implementación de un Hospital de Primer Nivel en Pitalito teniendo en cuenta la tasa de crecimiento poblacional. Además se realizan algunas recomendaciones al respecto.	spa
