dc.description.abstractenglish | Introduction: The HIV / AIDS in Colombia, affecting a high percentage of school-age youth, considering the recommendations of the UN, and the Ministry of Social Protection of Colombia, it is necessary to investigate the attitudes and behaviors risk that can lead to infection by this virus. Objectives: To describe knowledge, attitudes and practices about HIV / AIDS in students in grades seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth and eleven Colombian state schools. Material and Methods: We conducted a descriptive study to assess knowledge, attitudes and practices of adolescent students in schools mentioned, belonging to the cities of Tuluá-Valle, Chigorodó-Antioquia, Boyacá Chiquinquira-, and San Mateo-Boyacá, Envigado-Antioquia. This study was conducted in February and March 2012. Results: 100 students surveyed, 5 municipalities in different geographical areas, 55% men, 45% female, average age of students is 16. Although the source of information on H.I.V / AIDS is the most quoted college with 43%, the high percentage (39%) admitting that the only source of information is television and the internet, is highlighted as of concern. 69% of adolescents use substances like alcohol, first rate, with cannabis and methamphetamine 31% to 17%. To this is added that 33% of adolescents scored low on basic knowledge on H.I.V / AIDS because the tie reflects the rate of new infections occurring in this age group. Conclusion: Given the above, and considering that HIV / AIDS is spreading exponentially, young people discussed in this work are in a high state of contracting this virus. Key words: H.I.V / AIDS knowledge, attitudes, practices, adolescents | spa |
