En este artículo se conceptualizan aspectos sobre el desarrollo agropecuario local y su interrelación con las políticas públicas implantadas por los gobernantes. Los centros de investigación y de formación pertenecientes a la Educación Superior siempre han sido participantes serios en el proceso de diseño de las políticas públicas orientadas al desarrollo agropecuario local. Hoy las universidades tienen el deber cívico de participar activamente en su concepción, implantación y seguimiento. Para eso sus recursos humanos, incluyendo profesores, investigadores, alumnos y directivos deben concienciar que además de su función social y laboral son ciudadanos que por su preparación pueden aportar mucho y deben mejorar su rol como miembros activos de la sociedad dentro y fuera del claustro.The objective of this paper is to conceptualize aspects related to local agricultural development and their interrelation with public politics implanted by the government. The research and formation centers belonging to Higher Education have always been serious participants in the process of design public politics of local agricultural development. Today the universities have the civic duty of participate actively in their conception, installation and pursuit. For that their human resources, including professors, researchers, students and directive should make aware that besides their social and labor function they are civic that for their preparation can contribute a lot and their list like active members of society should improve inside and outside the classroom.
