| dc.description.abstract | Robert Guzmán (2022) presenta su proyecto de grado, el cual consiste en la creación de un libro de artista que genera un encuentro entre memoria, historia y política a partir de un relato particular. Este proceso de investigación-creación nace de dos inquietudes: La primera, generada por la tensión entre la memoria particular de su abuela Sofía (años de infancia y juventud) con los eventos históricos contados que coinciden en espacio y tiempo, la segunda, el cuestionamiento acerca de cómo puede dialogar el dibujo contemporáneo que se expande en materiales, significados y espacio con el formato del libro.
Si bien el ejercicio histórico es juicioso en la construcción del evento ocurrido, no deja de ser subjetivo, es allí donde entran los detalles particulares del entorno para dar otra mirada a los acontecimientos ocurridos. Con base en lo anterior, los ejercicios de historia, historia crítica, microhistoria, memoria y memoria histórica toman fuerza en este proyecto para conocer el pasado, a través de los recuerdos de un sujeto narrativo (Sofía).
El diálogo entre el artista y el sujeto narrativo sobre diferentes temas que influyeron en la vida de este último en los años comprendidos entre 1944 y 1965, son la materia prima que otorga el contenido del libro de artista (frases destacadas, materiales significativos y maneras de realizar los dibujos). Con el material recolectado, el artista realiza una serie de experimentaciones que resignifican cada una de estas memorias particulares, en conjunto con los eventos históricos correspondientes al periodo de tiempo mencionado.
Como resultado de este ejercicio experimental, la estructura del libro fue definida así: Ocho dibujos que representan las décadas vividas por Sofía, seis hacen referencia a momentos personales y dos de ellos buscan rescatar la oratoria que se da en las coplas que ella recuerda. Tres de los dibujos están cubiertos por acetatos impresos que representan la capa histórica. La portada se realizó con base en una historia adicional de su infancia y la contraportada es un collage de diferentes recortes de prensa del periodo trazado para este proyecto (1944-1965). Al final de esta estructura se dispone el despliegue de un contenido interno que expone frases sobre los conceptos que intervienen en esta obra, entre ellos una reflexión particular de Sofía.
“Sofía memoria expandida” es un libro de artista que se puede ver, leer, tocar, explorar, sentir e indagar, para entrar en un juego de representaciones que buscan reflexionar de forma crítica sobre la historia desde la perspectiva que otorga la memoria particular. Las nuevas narrativas creadas por los espectadores que leen el libro ayudan a expandir esta memoria para contribuir al conocimiento sobre la verdadera historia y su contexto. | |

| dc.description.abstractenglish | Robert Guzmán (2022) presents his degree project, in which he creates an artist's book that generates an encounter between memory, history and politics based on a particular story. This research-creation process was made because of two concerns: firstly, the contrast between the memory of his grandmother Sofía (childhood and youth years) with the historical events in that specific space and time; and in second place, his wonderings about how contemporary drawing that expands in materials, meanings and space can dialogue with the book format.
Although the historical exercise in the construction of the happening events is well focused, this matter is still subjective; this is where the particular details of the environment enter to offer other perspectives to the events that had taken place. Based on the above, the exercises of history, critical history, microhistory, memory and historical memory gain strength in this project to learn about the past, through the memories of a narrative subject (Sofía).
The dialogue between the artist and the narrative subject on different topics that influenced the life of the latter during the years between 1944 and 1965, are the main material that provides the content of the artist book (outstanding phrases, significant materials and drawing ways). Using this collected material, the artist carries out a series of experiments that redefine each of these particular memories, together with the historical events corresponding to the previously mentioned period of time.
As a result of this experimental exercise, the structure of the book was defined as follows: Eight drawings that represent the decades lived by Sofía, six of them refer to personal moments and two of them seek to rescue the way of speaking in the couplets that she remembers. Three of the drawings are covered by printed acetates that represent the historical layer. The cover was made according to an additional story from his childhood and the back cover is a collage of different press clippings from the period outlined for this project (1944-1965). At the end of this structure, the reader can find a display of an internal content that exposes quotes about the concepts intervening in this work, including a particular reflection of Sofía.
"Sofía Memoria Expandida" is an artist's book that can be seen, read, touched, explored, felt and investigated, to enter into a game of representations that seek to critically reflect on history from the perspective provided by private memory. The new narratives created by viewers reading the book help expand this memory to contribute to knowledge about the true story and its context. | |
