dc.description.abstract	El municipio de Yacuanquer está situado en la región andina al sur occidente del departamento de Nariño, tiene una extensión de 111 Km2 y se localiza a 1°, 07, 07” de latitud norte y a 77°, 24, 18” de longitud oeste. El objetivo de este estudio es identificar la aptitud del suelo para la agricultura en el municipio de Yacuanquer Nariño, aplicando las herramientas de los sistemas de información geográfica (SIG). La metodología utilizada comprendió el desarrollo de un modelo espacial agroambiental de aptitud de suelo para la agricultura integrado por tres componentes: ambiental, climático y edáfico, a cada componente se le asigno un peso porcentual con la finalidad de medir su influencia en la agricultura, este último proceso fue acompañado de un análisis ráster mediante una valoración multicriterio. Como resultado del estudio se obtuvo el mapa de aptitud del suelo para la agricultura para el municipio de Yacuanquer Nariño (resultado de la unión de los mapas ambiental, climático y edáfico), en el cual se evidencia suelos con aptitud baja (16 ha), moderada (3.986 ha) y alta (1.673 ha) y una zona con restricción de áreas protegidas y zona urbanizada, siendo la clasificación moderada el área de aptitud agrícola más representativa para el uso del suelo. dc.description.abstractenglish	The municipality of Yacuanquer is located in the Andean region in the south-west of the department of Nariño, it has an area of 111 km2 and is located at 1°, 07.07” north latitude and 77°, 24.18” west longitude. It limits to the north with the municipality of Consaca, to the south with the municipality of Funes, to the west with the municipalities of Imues and Guitarrilla and to the east with the municipality of Tangua. Yacuanquer is purely agricultural and this sector is consolidated as the main source of employment and income, economically it is classified within the three sectors of the economy, it stands out in the primary sector for being one of the most productive regions at an agricultural level, sustaining many families and engine of local development, represented in products such as wheat, barley and potatoes; There are also minor crops of beans, broad beans, corn and onions, among others. Additionally, there is smaller-scale livestock production, poultry farming, pig farming and artisanal fish farming. The objective of this study is to identify the suitability of the soil for agriculture in the municipality of Yacuanquer Nariño, applying the tools of geographic information systems (GIS). The methodology used included the development of an agro-environmental spatial model of soil suitability for agriculture made up of three components: environmental, climatic and edaphic, each component was assigned a percentage weight in order to measure its influence on agriculture, this the last process was accompanied by a raster analysis using a multi-criteria assessment. As a result of the study, the soil suitability map for agriculture was obtained for the municipality of Yacuanquer Nariño (result of the union of the environmental, climatic and edaphic maps), which shows soils with low suitability (16 ha), moderate (3,986 ha) and high (1,673 ha) and an area with restricted protected areas and urbanized areas, with the moderate classification being the most representative area of agricultural suitability for land use.
