| dc.description.abstractenglish | Sport and physical activity play a crucial role in human development, providing physical, mental and emotional benefits. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in combining different sports disciplines and wellness practices to maximize these benefits. In this context, the integration of basketball into the practice of yoga emerges as an innovative and promising proposal. This interdisciplinary approach not only seeks to improve physical performance, but also promote comprehensive development of the individual, addressing aspects such as concentration, emotional balance and social cohesion.
The literature reviewed during the course suggests that both basketball and yoga have well-documented positive effects on health and well-being. Basketball, as a team sport, promotes coordination, agility, cardiovascular endurance, and teamwork (Chen, 2016). On the other hand, yoga has been associated with improvements in flexibility, muscle strength, breathing, relaxation, and stress control (Ross & Thomas, 2010). However, the combination of both practices in an integrated activity is an area that has not yet been explored in depth in the academic literature.
The objective of this proposed activity is to investigate and demonstrate how the integration of basketball and yoga can offer an effective alternative for human development, covering both the physical and mental and emotional dimensions. This proposal is based on the hypothesis that the synergy between these two approaches can enhance the individual benefits of each practice and contribute to a more holistic development. | |
