It also examined the factors that influenced their perceptions of the effectiveness, benefits, and disadvantages of the VEL in improving their preparation for the ICFES Saber 11 English test compared to traditional preparation methods. A qualitative approach was used to explore how learners' self-efficacy and sense of readiness can boost their confidence to take the State test and drive positive changes within the specific context of Instituto Técnico Jorge Gaitán Durán. Classroom observations, focus groups, and open-ended questionnaires were utilized to gather detailed information on the experiences and perceptions of the students. The findings indicated an increased level of acceptance of the VLE-based strategy among students as well as its effectiveness in promoting learners’ self-efficacy and self-efficacy and overall sense of preparedness to take the exam.
