| dc.description.abstract | La Lechería La Vega, ubicada en la vereda Cañón
del Combeima en Ibagué, Tolima, es una finca de
8 hectáreas dedicada a la producción de leche y
otros productos lácteos. Situada a 1,225 metros
sobre el nivel del mar, donde el clima favorece el
desarrollo de razas bovinas como Girolando,
Jersey y Holstein. La finca alberga un inventario
de 20 bovinos, de los cuales 12 están en
producción, generando entre 35 y 38 litros de
leche diarios.
El lugar se complementa con la venta de huevos
y queso, diversificando así las fuentes de
ingreso, especialmente durante los fines de
semana, cuando el turismo en la zona se
intensifica. Alli se implementa un sistema de
reproducción que combina monta natural e
inseminación artificial, logrando un porcentaje de
fertilidad del 80%. No obstante, enfrenta
desafíos en áreas de sanidad animal, donde
enfermedades como la mastitis son comunes, y
presenta limitaciones en la infraestructura,
especialmente en el espacio para ordeño y
descanso del ganado. A pesar de estas
dificultades, el sistema se esfuerza por aplicar
buenas prácticas pecuarias, centrándose en el
bienestar animal, la alimentación balanceada y el
manejo sostenible de residuos. Sin embargo, se
identifican áreas que requieren atención para
mejorar la eficiencia de la producción y
garantizar la salud de los animales. Este análisis
destaca tanto los logros como las oportunidades
de mejora que se deben implementar y tener en
cuenta, subrayando su importancia en la
producción láctea y su contribución a la
