| dc.description.abstract | Las Buenas Prácticas Pecuarias (BPP) constituyen un estándar fundamental para garantizar la sostenibilidad y competitividad de los sistemas de producción avícola. Objetivo: Evaluar el nivel de implementación de BPP en una granja avícola de huevo fértil en el
municipio de Pasto, Nariño. Metodología: Se aplicó una lista de chequeo basada en la Resolución 31653 de 2023 del ICA, evaluando
9 componentes críticos mediante observación directa, revisión documental y entrevistas al personal técnico. Resultados: Se
obtuvo un cumplimiento general del 95%, con desempeño excepcional en bioseguridad (100%), manejo de insumos (100%) y
sanidad animal (98%). Conclusión: La granja demostró capacidad técnica para la certificación oficial, identificándose oportunidades

| dc.description.abstractenglish | Good Livestock Practices (GLP) represent a fundamental standard for ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of poultry
production systems. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the implementation level of GLP in a fertile egg production farm in
the municipality of Pasto, Nariño, Colombia. Methods: A diagnostic evaluation was conducted using a checklist based on ICA
Resolution 31653 of 2023, assessing nine critical components through direct observation, document review, and technical staff
interviews. The farm housed 10,600 hens and 1,500 roosters, producing 6,700 fertile eggs daily. Results: The assessment revealed
an overall compliance rate of 95%, with exemplary performance in biosecurity (100%), input management (100%), and animal health
(98%). Key strengths included a functional sanitary battery, complete wild bird control measures, and documented vaccination
programs under permanent veterinary supervision. Main areas for improvement were identi ed in animal welfare aspects,
particularly space availability per bird (450 cm²/bird), and the need for digitalizing traceability systems. Conclusion: The farm
demonstrates exceptional implementation of Good Livestock Practices and possesses the technical capabilities for of cial certi
cation. Recommended actions include optimizing bird density, implementing digital record-keeping systems, and initiating the
formal certi cation process with ICA. | |
