This research work allows an approach to the understanding of the phenomenon of the lack of cultural identity on the part of the Afro-Colombian population, since it has been educated under a curriculum planned at the central level with a uniform and mandatory character, Colombian education throughout history considered highlighting certain facts of the life of slaves of African origin brought to the American continent in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries to develop agricultural and mining work in favor of the Spanish monarchy and the colonial society of the time; and those slaves today are recognized as Afro-Colombians. In this context, the ethnic and cultural identity of Afro-Colombians and their contributions to the development of the nation have been almost unknown in our country, initially in the educational sphere. Later, in the social and political field, resulting in exclusion, invisibility, displacement and social prejudices that have framed many cultures in deficient quality of life problems, evidenced by the lack of adequate housing. Lack of public services and community development programs, lack of social investment, lack of job opportunities, among others. In addition, they have contributed to disharmony in the relations between the different makers of the social fabric. It is vital to highlight that the vast majority of Colombians have been excluded in one way or another by the State and by the processes of acculturation, transculturation and foreign impositions. However, entire populations, such as the descendants of Afro-Colombian communities, have been more discriminated than others and therefore it is necessary to begin to create a critical awareness of the problem in question, but the only relevant way is through education.
